Aircraft Performance Prediction and ModellingAircraft performance is a key design driver and a significant operational measure of efficiency in aviation. The School of Aerospace , Civil and Mechanical Engineering has developed models and can predict performance of a wide range of aircraft types. The School also has the capability to run comparison performance predictions for analysis of several aircraft types. The capability includes development of a full range of performance charts, i.e. take-off and landing, climb, payload-range, manoeuvre and the operational envelope. The prediction modelling capability also allows analysis of existing performance figures when the aircraft changes configuration. The impact on performance with aircraft up-grades can be analysed to identify key parameters or sanity checks of the data. Finally, the School's capability can be used in tender evaluations and type selection. Contact: Rik Heslehurst Top of Page |
