In these positions he has followed the profession of civil engineering in the fields of design and construction. He has commanded the Defence Force's only consulting engineering agency available for operational service. He has also taught civil and military engineering in Australia, Papua New Guinea and Great Britain. He also conducts specialist education programs on explosive effects for defence and other government departments.
Research Interests
Measurement and quantification of blast effects on structures. Design of structures to resist blast loads. Ultimate load capacity of rivets in engineering structures. Performance of structures subject to dynamic loads.
Consulting Interests
Investigation of engineering accidents. Development of policy and procedures for the use of explosives in engineering. Conduct of specialist education programs on the effects of explosions on structures and society. Assessment of structures in relation to explosive loading.
