Has taught in all years of undergraduate courses and at post graduate level in civil engineering materials science and metallurgy, testing of materials, welding, failure, and corrosion. Has lectured widely in undergraduate servicing courses in architecture, building science and other engineering disciplines. Actively involved in continuing education since 1977 and has contributed to some 40 short courses in welding science and technology, metallurgyand heat treatment in Australia, New Zealand, England, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Research Interests

Welding of aluminium alloys - physical metallurgy and mechanical properties. Heat Affected Zone characteristics.
Corrosion of reinforcement in concrete, galvanized and epoxy coated reinforcement, duplex coated reinforcement.
Bond and slip of black and coated reinforcement in concrete elements, pullout testing.

Consulting Interests

Materials evaluation and testing. Structural and component testing. Failure and accident investigations. Corrosion investigations and protection systems. Welding fabrication in engineering. Reinforcement corrosion and use of coated reinforcement. Continuing and professional education.
