Student Activities

  • Warman Competition
Second-year Mechanical Engineering students take part in the Australasian Warman Design and Build Competition. This gives students an opportunity to show their innovative skills under pressure.
  • SAE Vehicle
Some students choose to contribute to the formula SAE (Society of Automative Engineers) competition aimed at design, construction, testing and racing a small, cheap, high performance car.
  • Women in Engineering
Female students meet several times a year with guest speakers discussing issues of special interest.
  • Field Trips
Students undertake field trips in every stage of their studies to such places as Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Scheme, survey camp, Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO), construction sites, factories, BHP.
  • Work Experience
After three years' study, engineering students spend several weeks at a civilian engineering establishment gaining practical experience.
