Workers' Compensation and Injury Management
The Injury Management Process aims to provide timely, safe and durable return to work for employees following workplace injuries through effective injury management and return to work programs. These programs operate in conjunction with the UNSW@ADFA’s Occupational Health & Safety Management System which aims to reduce work-related injury through improvements in the management of occupational health and safety in the workplace.
There are three steps in the injury management process:

Injury Management Program
UNSW@ADFA has developed an Injury Management Program incorporating a coordinated and managed program addressing all aspects of injury management from the time of injury including medical treatment, rehabilitation services, claims and employment management practices.
Return to Work Program
UNSW@ADFA has established a Return to Work Program which includes policies and procedures for the work place rehabilitation of an injured employee (including where necessary vocational rehabilitation).
Personal Injury Plan
UNSW@ADFA will establish a Personal Injury Plan for an injured employee if it is likely the employee will be incapacitated, partially or totally, for a period of more than seven (7) calendar days. The Personal Injury Plan will be developed in conjunction with the injured employee, and with the assistance of an approved rehabilitation provider and nominated treating doctor.
The updated Procedures for Claiming Workers' Compensation was approved by the UNSW@ADFA OHS Committee on 21 September 2007.
