The Library of The Australian Defence Force Academy

The claim of the Australian Defence Force Academy Library is that it maintains the most comprehensive collections in military and strategic studies in the southern hemisphere.

Our mission is to purchase right across the board; but we boast particular strengths in international security, Asia/Pacific strategic studies, terrorism and homeland security, Islamic fundamentalism, military operations and technologies, peacekeeping and humanitarian interventions, maritime studies, and contemporary military history.

We subscribe to over 360 journals in the relevant subject areas.

We have access to the largest stable of relevant databases available to the university sector (including electronic access to Jane's Online, StratFor, Asian Intelligence Service, Columbia International Affairs Online, Lancaster Database, IISS Armed Conflict Database, Factiva, JSTOR, ProQuest5000, NTIS, etc).

Our proudest achievement is that we are able to combine an outstanding book collection with an online facility to keyword search through that collection at an individual chapter level .

With more than 18 years of enriched data, this gives us a database that, in the area of strategic studies and military history, offers a research facility which we believe is second to none!!

To top it all off, the ADFA collection includes copies of some 2000 military relevant higher degree dissertations from all over the world, the likes of which is not to be found in any other Australian collection.
