ACSACS is this week celebrating the launch of Charles Bean: Man, Myth, Legacy, edited by Professor Peter Stanley. It will be officially launched by Michelle Grattan, journalist and writer of Back on the Wool Track, her journey in Bean’s footsteps through outback NSW. The book can be purchased from The Co-Op at the Australian Defence Force Academy.

Charles Bean: Man, Myth, Legacy arose from the 2016 UNSW Canberra Conference to discuss Bean’s contribution to Australian history, and especially his influence on Australia’ distinctive official history tradition. The book offers nine essays discussing Bean’s life and work, and seven on official histories. It includes the latest research on the history of war writing, and reflections on how the tradition continues to evolve in a digital age.

Charles Bean: Man, Myth, Legacy is sponsored by ACSACS at UNSW Canberra.
