STePs 2007

The ETS Support for Teaching Program creates a space for discussion on flexible approaches and the development of skills in using technologies for learning and teaching purposes here at UNSW @ ADFA. Selected educational technologies are made more accessible in a simple framework of “Quick Intros” and On-Request, Extension and One-Off group-based activities, such as workshops, training, “show and tells” and discussions.

“STePs” complements other more individual-focussed assistance and services provided by ETS, and its scope is wide. A major training and development focus in 2007 will be on deploying Olive, a new Learning Management System (LMS) that will replace WebCT. In support of Olive, various activities are being developed. Some examples: Pilots' Support, an Introduction to Olive, guidance on using our templates and tutoring in selected LMS function/tools, ranging from Assignments and Tests to Forums to Online Conferencing.

The kind of additional content we have in mind for this year's evolving program includes:

  • Creating Conference Posters
  • Digital Video and Photography Tips
  • Progress on eJournals @ UNSW @ ADFA
  • Briefings for Staff Developing Distance Education Courses
  • Authentic Tasks in Online Courses
  • S/PIG: Streaming/Podcast Interest Group activities
  • ‘These are a few of our favourite things'
  • Using Dreamweaver with our Corporate Templates
  • Capturing Screen-based activity for Package/Replay

As plans firm for the year and events are organised, details will be broadcast via email and posted at on this page. Please contact Kathy Savige, Flexible Learning Assistant, on k.savige@adfa.edu.au , with suggestions, enquiries and, especially, any offers of involvement: or extension 88207.
