Flexible Learning

Quality framework

The staff of ETS and ASG are committed to attaining the highest quality possible in accordance with UNSW@ADFA directions while also being sensitive to both the needs and constraints of the context in which each project is developed.

While individual staff conduct quality checks on particular products in alignment with their understanding of best practice in their respective fields, we also contribute our understandings to the development of more broadly applicable quality checklists, guidelines and templates that support academic staff to develop high quality learning resources and provide information to students that meets or exceeds minimal UNSW@ADFA standards. We will continue to develop these implementation tools in collaboration with academic staff and in response to feedback from our students.

Wherever possible we will also move beyond the scope of standardised tools and work closely with academic staff to enhance their educational provisions in ways that are of particular value to them and the students they serve.

The standards identified for UNSW@ADFA learning resources and information to students comply with a range of documents that comprise the policy and legislative framework surrounding our academic pursuits:

Copyright Act 1968
'The Copyright Act 1968 sets out the University's responsibilities regarding the copying of material. Legal action may result if its provisions are not complied with' [UNSW Copyright Officer]. Jan Gordon provides copyright information for UNSW@ADFA staff. UNSW guidelines about implementing the Act is available on the web http://www.copyright.unsw.edu.au/

Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act 2000
This act aims to protect international students studying in Australia and has implications for how we convey information to students. The ESOS Management Unit at UNSW provides more detailed information about its implementation at UNSW http://www.studentadmin.unsw.edu.au/academiclife/esos.shtml
