Information about Podcasting

What is a Podcast?

A podcast can be an audio, video, graphics and more. These podcasts can be subscribed to for free, allowing listeners to regularly receive new episodes automatically via the web. The part of a podcast that allows this to happen is the RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed.

What do I need to listen to a podcast?

Audio Podcasts are mostly MP3 files (although they can be other formats). To play these you will need something that can play an MP3 such as your computer wth the appropriate media player installed such as Quicktime or Windows media Player to name a couple. There are numerous players around. If you like to be on the go and want to listen to your podcasts on the move you will need a portable media player that can play an MP3. There are literally hundreds of these on the market differing in size, shape and cost.

For more information on podcasting visit the Wikipedia entry on podcasting or See Apple's Podcasting FAQ.
