Governance

UNSW@ADFA is a Faculty of The University of New South Wales located at the Australian Defence Force Academy. The University of New South Wales, one of the leading teaching and research universities in Australia, was incorporated by an Act of the Parliament of New South Wales in 1949. The Act of Incorporation gave the University Council the power to establish Colleges and Schools. After negotiations between the Commonwealth of Australia and the University, an agreement was made on 7th May 1981, the Council established the University College, as UNSW@ADFA is officially known, and the Academy opened in 1986. In December 2003 a new agreement between the Commonwealth and the University was signed for the next ten years.

UNSW@ADFA functions as a Faculty and is supported by a committee structure, the senior academic body of which is the Academic Board, and is overseen by the Academy Council.
