The Academic Board is the Faculty Board of University College and is governed by the rules outlined in the University of New South Wales Rules 1999. It comprises all full-time members of University College academic staff plus the Commandant and Deputy Commandant of the Australian Defence Force Academy. The Academic Board elects a Presiding Member every two years who chairs meetings and performs other duties as required.

The Academic Board is also responsible for the composition of the Academic Board Standing Committees. There are currently seven standing committees:

• Executive Committee of the Academic Board
• Undergraduate Education Committee
• Postgraduate Coursework Education Committee
• Research Committee
• Teaching and Learning Committee
• Assessment Review Groups (Undergraduate and Postgraduate Coursework/Research)
