Election Notice - Call for Nominations
Nominations are hereby called to fill the positions of Presiding Member for each of the following UNSW@ADFA academic committees:
- Undergraduate Education Committee;
- Postgraduate Coursework Education Committee (the Presiding Member of this committee is also the Presiding Member of the Postgraduate Coursework Advisory Committee);
- Research Committee.
The term of office will commence on 1 January 2010 and will conclude on 31 December 2011.
Nominations must be submitted in writing on the prescribed Nomination Form (see below) by Friday 18 December 2009 to the Registrar's Nominee (Manager of Student Administrative Services) in Student Administrative Services, UNSW@ADFA. Nominations on the prescribed Nomination Form may be submitted in person, by mail or by fax only. Nominations which are not on the prescribed Nomination Form, or are not completed fully and correctly, or are submitted late, will not be accepted.
A person shall not be eligible to be elected as Presiding Member of any Faculty Committee unless he or she is a member of that Faculty, under the terms of clause 60 of the By-law, and holds a full-time appointment in the Faculty.
The Proposer, Seconder and Nominee must all be constituents for the relevant position during the term of office (for example, only members of the Undergraduate Education Committee in 2008/2009 may propose, second and nominate for the role of Presiding Member of the Undergraduate Education Committee).
Each nominee may submit at the time of nomination an electoral statement of not more than 150 words which may include the following information: full name and position; academic qualifications, if any; positions held in the candidate's field of occupation; positions or offices held at any time in public bodies, clubs and institutions with dates of tenure. The Registrar's Nominee may edit such information and publish a summary of the information for distribution with the ballot papers.
If there is only one valid nomination for a position, then the nominee will be declared elected by the Registrar's Nominee on Thursday, 31 December 2009. If there is more than one valid nomination for a position, an election will be held commencing on Monday, 4 January 2010. The voter is to return the ballot paper in a sealed envelop to the Registrar not later than 5pm on 18 December 2009.
