Purpose

The purpose of reviewing schools and administrative units at UNSW@ADFA is to achieve improvement in the performance of the School/Unit through a process of self-assessment, benchmarking, critical reflection, forward planning and peer review. Reviews provide the catalyst for a continuous cycle of development and improvement with a view to adopting good practice by national and international standards.

The review committee's task is to provide an objective view of the School/Unit's perceptions and plans developed through the self-review process and either confirm or recommend changes to those plans. The review committee is expected to give detailed feedback on how and where the unit's perceptions and plans fall short in meeting performance targets. The review process involves a panel in the review of a comprehensive School/Unit submission and of community submissions, plus interviews with staff, students, and external parties as appropriate.

Implementation

Within 18 months of approval of a review report, the Senior Management Committee will undertake a follow-up procedure to ascertain from the Deputy Rector and Head of School/Unit the progress on each approved recommendation.
