TOAST - Text Originality And Similarity (Detection) System

Help For New Users

New users should see our help page for assistance in getting started with TOAST. The system has been designed to be easy to use so those people confident using IT systems may wish to start using TOAST straight away by simply following the on-screen instructions. If you have trouble you can always access the help by using the menu of options on the left of this page.

Introduction

All academic staff at ADFA are welcome to use the system. Staff should contact the ICTS Service Desk to have their access enabled. If you wish to continue on and use TOAST, proceed to the login page.

The TOAST Service is offered on a cost recovered basis by the UNSW@ADFA Academic Support Group. Operating costs are recovered from the schools based on usage, for more details please see the cost recovery page.

Please use the links to the left to access the system. If you encounter any errant behavior by the system it is imperative that you report it to toastbugs@adfa.edu.au. Please ensure that you read the notices below before logging in as they will change from time to time.

TOAST is currently working normally.

System Notices

[19 Jun 06] The system has been upgraded to version 0.4.1 which includes a range of miscellaneous bug fixes.

[6 Mar 06] The TOAST Packaging Tool has been updated to version 1.0.5. This update fixes a problem where Windows file locking would prevent some temporary files from being deleted once the package has been created for uploading. It is recommended that all users of this tool download the new version.

[22 Sep 05] The system has been updated to version 0.4.0. This includes a number of big fixes and performance improvements.

[13 Apr 05] The system has a new name. To better reflect what the product actually does we have renamed it to:

TOAST - Text Originality And Similarity (Detection) Tool

This is a change in name only, the system will continue operating with the same functionality it has always had.

[24 Nov 04] The system has been upgraded to version 0.2.2 which includes a range of miscellaneous bug fixes.

[21 Oct 04] The system has been upgraded to version 0.2.1. This update includes two critical bug fixes, some minor bug fixes and a minor update to the interface.

[7 Oct 04] The system has been upgraded to version 0.2.0. This new version contains numerous bug fixes and optimisations along with one major new feature. You are now able to directly print all of the results of a search to a colour printer at ETS simply by clicking on the "Bulk Print" button at the results summary page. More details about this function will be available on the help pages soon.

[16 Jun 04] The EPDS Packaging tool has been updated to fix some bugs and make it easier to use.

[7 Jun 04] Additional help using the system has been instituted including end user guides and ICTS Service Desk support.

[12 May 04] The system has been upgraded to version 0.1.4.

[10 May 04] A client side application has been made available that allows staff who are not using WebCT to collate their students' work into an appropriately structured zip file for upload to the system. See the Packaging Tool web page for more information.

[6 Apr 04] The system has been upgraded to version 0.1.3.

[old] The system has been upgraded to version 0.1.2. This upgrade has resolved some bugs and added some new features but it may also result in some further undiscovered bugs. Any unusual behavior in the system should be reported to toastbugs@adfa.edu.au.

[old] The problem with Internet Explorer has been corrected. Feel free to test with the latest version of any popular web browser.
