Learning and Teaching

Online Learning

Online courses will start to become available to students from the week before the start of session, however, some may not be available until after the start of session. Please be patient if your course is not among the first to 'appear'.

Getting into OLIVE

Log into OLIVE

You will need to enter your username and your ADFAPASS. If you need an ADFAPASS, contact helpdesk@adfa.edu.au.

Getting help

An introductory information sheet (pdf) is provided to enable you to check your setup. This is also available from the 'Learn' menu within Olive.

  • If you can't log in, make sure you are using your correct login and your ADFAPASS. If you need an ADFAPASS, contact helpdesk@adfa.edu.au.

  • If you can log in, but can't see your course, there may be several reasons for this:

    • A 2-working-day turnaround applies for new enrollments. If this time has passed, and your courses have not appeared, check the reasons below, then contact Student Administrative Services on +61 2 6268 6000 to ensure that your enrolment has gone through correctly. If everything there is correct, email olive@adfa.edu.au

    • Your lecturers may not be using OLIVE, or may not yet have made the course available. Please check your course materials to confirm this, or contact your lecturer. If all else fails, contact olive@adfa.edu.au

Just curious . . .

If you do not have a course in OLIVE yet you will still be able to log in and look around the "Desktop" and test out the "My First Course" sample site.

Important Technical Notes

Office 2007

Office 2007 is not supported at UNSW@ADFA. Unless you make specific arrangements with your lecturer, it is expected that you will submit your work in Office 2003 formats.

If you are using Office 2007, please use the 'Save As Office 97-2003' function as soon as you begin working on your document. This will limit compatibility issues. To do this:

  • Click the Office button and choose Save As from the pull-down menu.
  • In the Save a Copy of the Document menu that opens, for Word, Excel and PowerPoint choose 97-2003 format. For Access choose either 2003-2003 or 2000 format.
