Submit Course Readings to the Library

The Course Readings Team makes the following material available on request:

Hardcopy books held by the Academy Library

placed in the Course Reading collection as a 4 hour loan

Book chapters not available online

we will digitise and provide an electronic link
(where Copyright permits)

Journal articles not available online

we will digitise and provide an electronic link
(where Copyright permits)

Hardcopy audio visual material held by the Academy library

placed in the Course Reading collection as a 4 hour loan

Items held by the Academy Library:

  • Hardcopy books:
    • email a list of books to coursereadings@adfa.edu.au, and we will locate and process the items for you.  They will be made available to students as four hour loans.
  • Journal articles and book chapters not currently online:
    • email a fully cited list of readings to coursereadings@adfa.edu.au, and the library will link your citation to an electronic copy. Digitisation is subject to the Copyright Act part VB and may not always be permissible.
  • Hardcopy audio visual:
    • Check SearchGateway to see if the item is available via online streaming. If it is not available online, email a list to coursereadings@adfa.edu.au.  Hardcopy items will be made available to students as four hour loans.

Items not held by the Academy Library:

  • Submit a purchase recommendation for any item not held in the Library's collection, indicating that the item is required for your course. Course Readings materials will be purchased in electronic format where available.
  • Urgent requests: If you require an item urgently, we can place your personal copy into the Course Readings Collection until an item on order arrives. Submit your personal copy at the Library's service desk between Monday and Friday, marked ‘attention Course Readings Team’
  • Out of print items which the Academy Library does not hold will not be purchased for course readings

Please notify us of your requirements at least 3-4 weeks prior to the date you want content to be available to your students. Requests will be processed in order of receipt.

Online course materials

Link to online content

You can find subscribed online material via the SearchGateway and link directly with the following steps:

  • Find the online resource by searching the SearchGateway
  • Select the ‘view it’ tab and click on ‘Show license’
  • Scroll down to ‘License Terms’ and go to the ‘Electronic Link Note’, where you will find instructions to link to an article or to the publisher's website
  • Place this link in Moodle
  • If your item is not available online, contact the Course Readings Team so we can digitise an allowable part of the print version  (where copyright permits)
