Document Supply

Document Supply obtains materials not held in the Academy Library or at UNSW Sydney libraries. We obtain both physical items and electronic copies from Australian and overseas libraries to support research and educational needs.

Before you request an item, use SearchGateway to ensure the Academy Library or UNSW Sydney libraries do not have a copy.

Please note that textbooks and required readings for coursework are not available from Document Supply.

Eligibility

Document Supply services are only available to staff and students of UNSW Canberra.

You can track the progress of your request by logging in to Document Supply.

Books

We will send you an email when your book is ready for collection. You can pick up your book from the Academy Library Service Desk.

If you are an Off Campus Student, we will post the book to your mailing address.

Electronic copies

You will receive an email notification when your document arrives. Electronic copies arrive as an attachment or as a link with access information.

Loan Periods

Loan periods can vary and are at the discretion of the lending library that owns the material. Check the due date on the Document Supply strap attached to the book cover, or login to myLibrary to see when your item is due.

Document Supply books are not owned by UNSW Canberra, so it is important that you do not take any items overseas or interstate.

Renewals

You need to request a renewal at least 3 working days before an item is due.

Before you place a request, please check the Document Supply strap on the outside of your book. If the renewable ‘yes’ box is ticked, you may request a renewal. You can ask for one renewal per book.

Please note that renewals are at the discretion of the lending library and may sometimes be denied. We will let you know if your renewal has been successful.

To request a renewal

  • Login to Document Supply
  • Select ‘List Open Requests’
  • Click on the request number for the item you want to renew. The request number begins with PAC.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page
  • Click "Renew Loan"
  • Click "Send"

Returning items to Document Supply

Return your book to the Academy Library in person, or send it by post if you are off campus. You can return a book during opening hours, or after hours using the return chute. Please ensure the Document Supply strap is attached to the item when it is returned.

An overdue fee of one dollar per day applies if you return your book late.

Lost Document Supply Materials

A lost book can cost in excess of $300. This penalty is set by the lending library owning the book and cannot be waived by UNSW Canberra.

If you have any questions - please email Document Supply at ill@adfa.edu.au or request help via AskUs.
