The ADFA Performing Arts Company will be performing the 2006 production of

“GUYS AND DOLLS”

on the nights of 10-12 August 2006.

Guys and Dolls brings to life the colourful characters of New York in the 1940’s — the cunning petty-crime gangsters with their bets, scams and prohibited alcohol, the scantily-clad showgirls at the nightclubs, the multitude of innocents and oddballs, and the passionate Salvation Army missionaries who tried to save them all!

In the bustling atmosphere of 1950’s New York, this musical comedy revolves around gambling man Nathan Detroit as he is desperately searching for a place to hold his floating crap game, with the NYPD breathing down his neck.

Sky Masterson, a mysterious high-flying gambler arrives in town, and Nathan bets him he cannot seduce the upright but uptight Missionary Sister Sarah Brown, and take her with him to Havana the next day. If Detroit wins (which seems a fair bet) he’ll have the thousand bucks he needs to host his crap game. This is where the fun all begins!

“GUYS AND DOLLS” has been the work of over 50 Officer Cadets and Midshipmen within the Academy since September last year. This year’s production is set to be a visual spectacular, with amazing choreography never before seen in previous years. The performance will be staged from 1930h in Adams Hall at ADFA, and admission is free of charge. To book tickets, please ring the ticket booking hotline on (02) 6268 8999.
