The School of Physical, Environmental and Mathematical Sciences encompasses the disciplines of Chemistry, Geography, Mathematics and Statistics, Oceanography and Physics and is one of five Schools at UNSW@ADFA, the academic component of the Australian Defence Force Academy located in Canberra.

The primary teaching role of the School is in the Bachelor of Science degree. Majors are offered in all disciplines. Arts students can also choose to study some Science courses in their degree and, in particular, the major in Geography is a popular option for Arts students as it provides a bridge between the social and natural sciences. Geography courses at UNSW@ADFA can be studied as either Arts or Science courses. The School also contributes very significantly to teaching in the Bachelor of Engineering, Technology and Business degrees.

The School contributes to postgraduate coursework programs in Arts, Defence Studies, Engineering Science, Operations Research and Statistics and Management Studies.

There are active research programs with well-equipped research laboratories and infrastructure in all discipline areas and the School offers MSc and PhD by research in both full-time and part-time mode.
