Biography

I studied physical geography and soil science at the University of Amsterdam (The Netherlands). I did my PhD on the Effects of Roughness on Overland Flow and Erosion at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium) and received my doctorate in 2000. I came to UNSW@ADFA as postdoctoral researcher in 2001 on a project on Forest Management Practices and Water Quality. Since 2003 I was appointed as lecturer at ADFA and have since enjoyed teaching undergraduate as well as postgraduate students.

Research

Most of my research so far has been carried out within the scope of two major projects: my PhD research on the effects of roughness on runoff and erosion in agricultural catchments in Europe, and my postdoctoral research, which was concerned with sediment delivery in forested catchments in Australia. In my current research I continue to pursue my research interests in modelling overland flow, erosion and sediment delivery in different environments.

Teaching

I am lecturer in the School of Physical, Environmental and Mathematical Sciences at the University of New South Wales @ADFA. I teach students at a range of undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

This includes:
· Involvement in the Level 1 Geography program and field school
· Level 2 course: Fundamentals of GIA and Remote Sensing
· Level 3 course: Practical Application in GIA and Remote Sensing
· Postgraduate course: Principles in GIA and Remote Sensing
