Litigation in the Federal Court
"This project provides a study of the 'overarching purpose' of the civil practice and procedure provisions governing the conduct of civil proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia. These provisions must be interpreted and applied in a manner that facilitates the just resolution of disputes according to law and as quickly, inexpensively and efficiently as possible (s 37M of the Federal Court of Australia Act (Cth)). The research examines how this requirement is to be achieved in practice. It is relevant to the efficient and expeditious disposal of the Court's workload and to the administration of federal civil justice.
