Dr. Fendy Santoso is a Research Fellow in the School of Engineering and Information Technology, UNSW Canberra, Australia.

He received the master’s degree from the Department of Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering, Monash University, Melbourne, VIC, Australia and the PhD degree from the School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications, The University of New South Wales, UNSW Sydney, Australia. 

His research interest includes:

  • Fuzzy Systems-based Artificial Intelligence,
  • Intelligent Control Systems,
  • Adaptive Control Systems,
  • Flight Control Systems,
  • System Identification (Data-Driven Modelling)
  • Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs),
  • Guidance (Path-Planning) Systems
  • Artificial Intelligence.

Fendy has been a Chief and Associate investigator for multiple highly competitive research grants from the DST Group Australia. Fendy is a member of the Trusted Autonomy research group within the School of Engineering and Information Technology, UNSW Canberra. He also serves as a Thesis Committee of the Trusted Autonomy Research Group. He is now actively conducting research in the adaptive fuzzy systems with applications on multiple aircraft platforms (e.g. multicopter UAVs and flapping wing aircraft).

Fendy publishes in high-impact IEEE Transactions Journals.  He is also an active member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)

He serves as an Associate Editor of the International Journal of the Knowledge-Based and Intelligent Engineering Systems.

He has been a reviewer for numerous high-impact control and robotics journals (e.g. the IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics: Systems, IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters (RAL), IEEE Trans. on Automation Science and Engineering (TASE), IEEE Trans. on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, IEEE Trans. on Vehicular Technology, IEEE Trans on Human-Machine Interactions); in addition to many international conferences.
