Dr Ian Faulconbridge has a Doctorate, Masters, and Bachelors degree in engineering, an MBA in project management, and a Graduate Certificate in Ornithology. He is a Fellow of Engineers Australia (FIEAust), a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) in electrical and aerospace colleges, a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) and a Senior Member of IEEE (SMIEEE).
Since 1990, he has held a number of engineering, project management and academic positions in the fields of avionics, simulation, radar, communications and information systems. He served for nearly 11 years as an Engineering Officer in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) and has been the director of an engineering and project management consultancy since 1999.
He is actively involved with engineering education at undergraduate, post-graduate and professional development levels in systems engineering, avionics and navigation aids, radar, and radar electronic warfare. He is an Industry Fellow at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and an Honorary Associate Professor in the College of Engineering and Computer Sciences at the Australian National University (ANU).
He is the author of a book on radar and radar electronic warfare, a book on systems engineering and a book on avionics systems. He is also co-author of three books on managing complex technical projects and has written a number of academic papers covering a range of technical and management topics.
