During Mr Yu’s master degree, he did some researches on the residual fracture mechanical properties of normal- strength and high-strength concrete (up to 100 MPa) subjected to high temperatures till 800°C using three point bending test. Several journal papers were published based on this project. The graduation thesis was nominated as one of the best thesis in Shanghai for the year of 2014.
During the Ph.d study, his research interest was focused on developing a Ultra-high-performance engineered cementitious composites (UHP-ECC) which combined the strain-hardening, multiple crack characteristics and the high strength of mortar matrix. The compressive strength of UHP-ECC reached 150 MPa at 28 days under a standard curing condition, while the tensile strength and strain capacity of UHP-ECC could achieve 15-20 MPa and 6-10%, respectively. The tensile stress and strain capacity were much better than those of the conventional concrete as well as the UHPC.
Mr Yu has published 30 SCI indexed papers on the field of concrete fracture and UHP-ECC. His the H-index of 9 and h10 index of 9 in Google scholar and has one ESI paper since 2018 March.
Mr Yu is the reviewer for several Journals, such as Fatigue & Fracture of Engineering Materials & Structures, Construction and building materials, polymer testing and Journal of testing and evaluations.
