UNSW Canberra PhD student wins Eureka Prize


School of Engineering and IT PhD scholar Mallika Robinson is a 2018 co-recipient of the prestigious Eureka Prize for Innovation in Citizen Science.

The award is part of the Australian Museum’s Eureka Prizes, which rewards excellence in the fields of research and innovation, leadership, science engagement and school science.

Mallika is co-founder/developer of the citizen-science mobile app QuestaGame, “the world's first mobile game that takes you outdoors to discover, map and ultimately help protect life on our planet”.

Launched in 2014 through a successful crowdfunding campaign, QuestaGame is used in more than 40 countries around the world.

The sightings contribute to real research and conservation. QuestaGame has led to over a million sightings and identifications.
