The DON’T DROWN conference provides guidance and speaking opportunities to postgraduates in Humanities and Social Sciences from all Canberra universities.
DON’T DROWN is an opportunity to present a paper in a protected and collegial environment. DON’T DROWN will also help attendees gain better control of their study, understand career opportunities, network, and raise profiles.
General sessions (morning)
Academics, journal editors and recent PhDs will give attendees real-world perspectives on effective presentations, getting published, post-doctoral career opportunities, managing the PhD process, and writing a thesis.

Postgraduate presentations (afternoon)
Postgraduates will present on their research, or to test ideas, with short papers of 10 to 15 minutes’ duration. Each presentation will be followed by five to ten minutes’ discussion moderated by a chairperson. Multiple streams of presentations will be run. Best presenters will be awarded $100 book vouchers.
