Roberta C. Andrade is a Doctoral candidate in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at UNSW Canberra at the Australian Defence Force Academy. Her research rests at the intersection of international relations and international law and focuses, more specifically, on the ways in which Brazil, as a rising power, engages with the specific legal details embedded in cornerstone multilateral treaties that govern inter-state relations in the existing international order and how such engagement may impact this order. Roberta previously held the position of Postgraduate Teaching Fellow at the School of Social Sciences at UNSW Sydney and was Chair of the Higher Degree Research Student Committee at UNSW Sydney’s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Roberta graduated from UNSW Sydney with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in International Relations and History and her research interests include the politics of international law, rising powers and the nature of their engagement with international law, international security, including “non-traditional” security threats, and international trade law.
