On the road to Bombay, with Peter Stanley

Peter Stanley, who is just starting work on a further book on the military-social history of British India, is taking an entrepreneurial approach to funding future research in India. He will be leading a proposed study tour to India later in 2018, travelling to the sites of British-Indian battlefields, memorials and cantonment cemeteries. The tour needs to attract 20 travellers to be a goer. The weekend Australian recently promoted it.  If it comes off, the tour will make enough to enable Peter to complete the Indian archival research for his project, a new history of the 1855 Santal rebellion in Bengal.
