Academic Language and Learning Unit
The purpose of the ALL unit is to enhance the student learning experience at UNSW@ADFA by providing students with opportunities to: develop their academic skills; master academic language and literacy strategies; clarify academic expectations and enable students to achieve their academic potential whilst developing the graduate attributes of UNSW. To achieve its purpose, the ALL unit provides courses and workshops, individual consultations, online guides and learning resources.

Counselling Services
Counselling Services Available for Undergraduate Students
The Psychology and Counselling Service at the Academy is a resource available to all Academy cadets and military staff. Each of the psychologists at the Academy is fully qualified with extensive experience working with Service personnel. Appointments can be made by visiting the section located on the ground floor of the military building; or dialing extension 88065.

Counselling Services Available for Postgraduate Students
Davidson Trahaire Counselling Service
Davidson Trahaire provide a professional, confidential counselling service for students, paid for by UNSW@ADFA. It is free to all postgraduate students enrolled at UNSW@ADFA. UNSW Counselling Service
UNSW students studying on the ADFA campus are entitled to use the Counselling Service located on the Kensington campus. You will find much useful information on their web site http://www.counselling.unsw.edu.au/
Telephone appointments can be made with counsellors at the UNSW Counselling Service by contacting 02 9385 5418.
The UNSW Counselling Service has also put together self-help information on various interesting topics. It includes online self-paced learning modules and information sheets on topics such as coping with depression and with traumatic or difficult life events, procrastination, relationships, time management and much more.

Learning Enhancement Programs (Academic Skills for Students)
UNSW@ADFA has developed a range of academic learning enhancement programs (LEP) available to all enrolled students at postgraduate and undergraduate levels. Students taking part in a LEP activity gain an increased chance of academic success, will enjoy their educational experience more, and may be able to complete their programs closer to if not in minimum time.
LEPs have been developed to encourage academic success in the specific disciplines of Physics and Mathematics. In addition a further program focussing on the development of generic academic skills has been established. Occupational Health and Safety

Online Learning (Olive)
OLIVE is the Learning Management System in use at UNSW@ADFA. Lecturers may use OLIVE to distribute class materials, provide information about class activities and communicate with students. Please note: Not all courses use OLIVE as a means of communication.
Many courses, especially distance courses, have all materials available only via OLIVE. It is vital that you check this regularly as part of your studies

Research and Research Training Office
The Research & Research Training Office provides strategies and advice on writing applications, helps seek funding from appropriate sources and liaises with a wide range of funding bodies. Student Administrative Services
Student Administrative Services provides advice and guidance to students on admission, enrolment, timetabling, academic progression and graduation.
An orientation program and an intensive academic preparation course are available for International postgraduate students, including classes on English for Academic Purposes (language and appropriate learning skills); academic skills (word processing, library research); academic and pedagogical guidance, and expectations and advice from staff. UNSW@ADFA also has a designated staff member to assist international students, particularly upon arrival and in the early stages of their study, and to assist with relevant ongoing support and advice.
