Equity Scholarships Guidelines
Aim
Equity scholarships are established by the University of New South Wales at the Australian Defence Force Academy (UNSW@ADFA) to support and encourage access by postgraduate women research students into non-traditional areas of study. Broad non-traditional research areas of study as identified by DEST and currently supported under this scheme are: Engineering, Science and Mathematics.
Stipend
Equity Scholarship holders will receive an annual award at the current stipend rate of the University College Postgraduate Research Scholarship (UCPRS). The stipend is paid in fortnightly instalments and cannot be converted into a lump-sum payment. If supported by the Head of School and approved by the Associate Dean (Research), the Equity Scholarship stipend may be used for payment of tuition fees.
Conditions of Award
The Conditions of Award for Equity Scholarships are identical to those of the University College Postgraduate Research Scholarship (UCPRS).
Application Procedure
Women postgraduate scholarship applicants will automatically be considered for an Equity Scholarship under the UCPRS scheme. Currently applicants for an Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) or International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) are automatically considered for a UCPRS. If a student has applied for an APA or IPRS and is eligible to be considered for an equity scholarship, no separate UCPRS application is necessary.
