Postgraduate Research Student Overseas
Travel Grant Guidelines

Aim
Postgraduate Research Student Travel Grants valued to a maximum of $A5000 are being offered by the Business Services Office at UNSW@ADFA. These competitive grants have been established to assist full-time postgraduate research students to travel overseas to conduct activities that are relevant to the completion of their research. Activities may include presenting papers at international conferences, undertaking a research field trip or undertaking collaborative research with other Universities and Research Institutions.

As applications for travel grants usually exceed the available funds, decisions will be based on the selection criteria outlined in the application form. Submission of an application does not guarantee the award of a grant. Applicants are strongly encouraged to seek alternative funding in the event their application for a Business Services Office grant is not successful.

Eligibility

  1. The scheme is available only to full-time PhD or Research Masters students who have confirmed candidature at the UNSW@ADFA on the application closing date and whose candidature will continue after the proposed travel.
  2. Travel must be to an overseas destination.
  3. Travel is usually expected to cover a minimum of 7 days for participating in activities solely relevant to the applicant's research.
  4. Students may only receive one Grant during their period of candidature.
  5. The grant is not available to applicants wishing to travel in order to make arrangements for subsequent work or employment.
  6. It is not the intention of the scheme to provide funds to support course fees at an overseas institution.
  7. This grant cannot be used to reimburse costs for travel which has already been undertaken.

Application Procedure and Due Date for Applications

The Business Services Office Postgraduate Research Student Travel Grant application form must be completed and lodged with all required documentation at the Research Office by November 30, 2004 .
