Microsoft Licensing

The Microsoft site licence contract covers the following Microsoft Products in an arrangement which allows them to be loaded onto any machine which is owned or leased by UNSW@ADFA.

  • Office Professional Edition or Office Macintosh Edition (Access, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Publisher, Word and OneNote)
  • Windows 32-bit operating system Upgrade
  • Core Client Access License (CAL)
  • SQL CAL
  • Visual Studio .NET Professional Academic
  • FrontPage
  • Visio Professional
  • Project Professional

All other Microsoft products that Schools and Centres require can be purchased at discounted educational prices under the Microsoft Select Agreement. Please contact your local School IT Staff for more information.

 

Microsoft Software Work at Home (WAH) rights

University staff, included in the Microsoft site licence contract (excluding casual staff*), are permitted to install and run certain Microsoft products at home, for work-related purposes only. The licence does not permit the use of the software at home for personal purposes.

The following Microsoft software products, with WAH rights, are available to UNSW @ ADFA staff:

Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 (includes Access 2007, Communicator 2007, Excel 2007, InfoPath 2007, Outlook 2007, PowerPoint 2007, Publisher 2007 and Word 2007).

Microsoft Windows Vista Business - Upgrade only i.e. Pre-existing Microsoft operating system installation required.

Note – Microsoft Project and Microsoft Visio are excluded from WAH rights.

Entitled staff members wishing to obtain a media set (only one per entitled staff member) of either of the above software products should:

•  Submit a completed ICTS Software Request Form to the ICTS Service Desk;

•  Pay the $15 charge per media set; and

•  Sign and submit the Microsoft Campus Agreement 3.5 Work at Home (WAH) Acceptance Form to the ICTS Service Desk.

Please note purchase of the media does not denote ownership of the licence or the CDs as stated in the terms of the Microsoft Campus Agreement 3.5 Work at Home (WAH) Acceptance Form.

*Casual staff defined as any staff member not included by Human Resources in the Academy's FTE (Full time equivalent) e.g. tutoring/teaching students, sessional teachers and academics, exam invigilators etc.
