Ethics

UNSW@ADFA has a Human Research Ethics Advisory Panel (HREAP) which acts under delegated authority of the Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) of the University of New South Wales. The primary goal of the HREAP is to facilitate ethical human research activities at UNSW@ADFA.

The UNSW@ADFA Human Research Ethics Advisory Panel (HREAP) will evaluate applications for ethics approval for research projects which are deemed to have minimal impact.  It is the responsibility of applicants to provide sufficient information to indicate that the project has minimal ethical impact*.

Research projects which require ethics approval by another HREA panel or committee is the responsibility of the researchers.  However the ratifications of protocols approved by external ethics review (whether overseas or Australian) are carried out by the HREC Executive.  The HREAP is unable to provide ratification for any such protocol.

*In general, research without a significant risk of harm, which does not include vulnerable subject groups, or involve sensitive topics, may be considered as minimal ethical impact.

Meeting Schedule:

Panel meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month (starting February), but any urgent request for consideration of an ethics application can be processed through email discussion.
