80. I Anzac Corps Heavy Artillery had been formed on 4 April 1916. It was a headquarters for controlling heavy artillery assigned to the corps, and was subordinate to I Anzac Corps Artillery. It was commanded throughout the war by a British Royal Garrison Artillery officer, Brigadier General L. D. Fraser.
