Credit or Exemption for Previous Studies (Advanced Standing)

When to Apply
  Applications must be submitted to Student Administrative Services by the Friday of the first week of classes.
 
Documentation
  An application for credit or exemption will not be considered unless it is accompanied by documentary evidence of previous studies. 
   
  Documentation should include:
  a. Official Academic Transcript
UNSW Canberra accepts scanned versions of original transcripts or copies of orignal transcripts sent via post, as well as digital credentials from My eQuals.
  b. Course Outlines
An extract from the institution's handbook is not sufficient.
You should provide course synopses, including aims and objectives, contact hours, texts and references and assessment. Course Outlines must be for the relevant semester and year you completed the course in.
   
 
Processing Timelines and Notification
  Allow at least 3–4 weeks for processing. Applications without the necessary documentation will not be processed. 
Session 1 applications
 received by the end of week 1 will be processed by the Census Date.
Session 2 applications
 received by the end of week 1 will be processed by the Census Date.
Applicants will be advised of the outcome of their credit application via email.
Successful credit applications can also be viewed on myUNSW by generating an Academic Statement.
 
Further Information
  The student is responsible for cancelling any course(s) for which credit has been granted before the census date.
 
Special Information for International Students
  Credit for international students is generally assessed during the application process. 
Please note that you must remain enrolled in a full-time load to satisfy visa requirements, regardless of the amount of credit awarded for any given semester.
