Onsite access to the Academy Library is currently only available (via swipe access) to UNSW Canberra staff and students!

If you are a UNSW Canberra student or UNSW Canberra staff, you are automatically registered as an Academy Library member (once you have organised getting your Student/Staff ID card through the Information, Communication and Technology Services (ICTS)).

To start using the library, all you need is your Student/Staff ID card and your zPass (allows you to access myLibrary and login to the Library's p/c's).

The Academy Library is not currently open to members of the public as only approved visitors and/or contractors are able to come on the Australian Defence Force Academy base.

The following membership categories are not currently available:

  • UNSW Alumni or former UNSW Canberra staff members - (Membership form)
  • ADF / Dept. of Defence personnel (based in the Canberra area) - (Membership form)
  • Staff and students from affiliated Universities (Reciprocal borrowers) (Membership form)
  • Members of the general public (Community borrowers) (Membership form)


Please visit the Academy Library with a completed Membership form and supporting documentation outlined below to finalise the registration process. You will need to visit the ICTS Centre (Bld 14) at UNSW Canberra (during business hours) for your photo to be taken for your library card.

There may be a short delay (up to 24 hours) before full borrowing privileges are available.
