Loyalty, Retention and Workforce planning
Explore how loyalty to task, colleagues and organization affect performance and retention in the public sector.
Loyalties frame the choices employees make regarding work activities. Little academic work as applied an explicit sociology of emotions informed framework to the question of loyalty in the public sector. Using qualitative methods the project will explore worker attachment via their emotional connections to task, place and people. In-depth, longitudinal interviews will track attachment over time. The results of this research will inform workforce planning and retention as well as contribute to the literature on workplace emotions.
