Nick has over 30 years of experience in Defence, with more recent focus on capability development and management within the maritime domain during implementation of the Defence First Principles Review (FPR) and the reform of the capability development process. Nick is currently an Industry Fellow at the UNSW Capability Systems Centre.
During his military career as a Principle Warfare Officer he fulfilled several command appointments and capability sponsor roles across a number of major capital acquisition programs associated with implementation of the Continuous Naval Shipbuilding Plan including the ADF’s Joint Amphibious Capability and Offshore Patrol Vessel. His capability management experience has supported government decision-making by leveraging Defence Capability Life Cycle (CLC) ‘behavioural’ changes to meet strategic and operational capability outcomes.
Nick holds a Master’s of Arts in Strategic Studies; a Bachelor of Science in Oceanography; a Graduate Diploma of Management (Defence Studies) and a Diploma of Applied Science in Meteorology.
