0900 – 1600 Air force balloon Meet with the Royal Australian Air Force Balloon crew and go on a tethered flight (weather permitting). AFL oval - Location I
0900 – 1600 Academy racing car (static display) Learn how Midshipmen and Officer Cadets use their technical, management and leadership skills to design, build, test and race a Formula SAE racing car. This project requires goals to be set, goals to be translated into specifications, and then designs to be developed against those specifications. The designs are realised to create a fully functional racing car. In front of building 16

0900 – 1600 Unmanned aerial vehicles display On display in the ADFA Gym are examples of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) developed by staff and students at UNSW Canberra. 0900 – 1600 Australia's vietnam war website Military historians Dr Bob Hall and Mr Derrill de Heer demonstrate a cutting edge website showing the combat operations of the 1st Australian Task Force in Vietnam. Library - Location R
0900 – 1600 AIF database: find your family in WW1 Call up an Anzac! Do you want to find out about a family member who served in the Great War? The AIF database is an on-line resource detailing the experience of some 340,000 members of the Australian Imperial Force who served overseas. The NZEF database will also be available for searching. On Open Day you can use the advanced search engine and see how many different sources have been integrated to produce the most comprehensive profile of the AIF available anywhere. 0900 – 1600 UNSW Canberra special collections Visitors can view unique and extraordinary materials collected by the University in a curated display celebrating the 250th anniversary of the births of Wellington and Napoleon. Two of history’s most famous military figures are Arthur Wellesley (better known as the Duke of Wellington) born on 1st May 1769, and his arch-rival Napoleon Bonaparte, born on the 14th August 1769. Come to the John Howard Reading Room in the Academy Library to see Wellington’s autograph, rare books belonging to both Wellington’s and Napoleon’s personal libraries, and hand-coloured engravings of their last battle won and lost at Waterloo.
