In this 1-hour workshop, Professor Dominey-Howes explores the process of doing Disability inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction (DiDRR) drawing from a range of projects funded by state and Federal and Global Resilience Partnership grants in Australia and South East. First, Professor Dominey-Howes outline how and why this research activity for the Asia-Pacific Natural Hazards and Disaster Risk Research Group came about before describing (1) d/Deaf inclusive DRR work in NSW and (2) wider DiDRR work in Australia and SE Asia. The remainder of the talk sets out the ongoing challenges, barriers and opportunities for making disability inclusion a lived reality in disaster risk reduction.

This seminar is recommended for higher degree by research students, early career academics and researchers.
