I began my career in the University at the Duntroon Military College in 1984, teaching in military history.  

I retired in 2009 from teaching in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and have taken an appointment as Visiting Senior Lecturer.  

I continue writing books and book reviews. My forthcoming publication is How the Americans got Involved in the Vietnam War Through its French Connection to be published to Routledge, New York, early in 2016.

My research interests include studies in Australian Military History and the Cold War in Australia and America, Development of British Missile Technology, Labour History including Labor governments in Australia, Intelligence History, Killings in Indonesia 1965, the French Fighting in Vietnam, Perception of Communist Party in China Between the Wars.
