BA (Auckland), MA (UNSW), MPhil (Massey). Ross is a PhD candidate in history. His thesis examines the social, political, economic, military and other reasons for New Zealand’s 1909 decision to implement compulsory military training and form a Territorial army. His academic interests include civil-military relations, and the application of management principles from industry and commerce (e.g., organisational culture theory and supply chain metrics) to better understand historical military activity.
