Astrophysics 2

Current project

School: Science

Project description:

Both numerical (theoretical) and observational projects are available, including:
-    hydrodynamical simulations of thermonuclear supernova explosions performed on high-performance computers
-    calculations of nucleosynthesis products with nuclear reaction networks
-    observations of the optical emission of supernova remnants with integral field spectrographs on some of the world's biggest and most advanced telescopes

Desired background:

A BSc in astronomy, astrophysics, physics, or related preferred. A Masters degree (by research) or research experience is an asset. The successful applicant would need to meet the Australian Government H1E standards and UNSW entry standards.
