Scientia Project Summary:

In this era, our success is largely determined by our ability to design, characterize and synthesize custom materials. Materials which can withstand extreme temperatures, stress, radiation, and corrosion to the ones which can self-regulate porosity, strength, conductivity and elastic properties are regularly sought for a range of practical applications. This project aims to develop optimization methods to deal with the challenges of such large scale optimization problems involving multiple, highly nonlinear objectives and constraints defined using a combination of continues, discrete, categorical and permutation variables. This would bridge the gap between existing technology and its adoption for custom material design.
