Manuel is a Research Associate at the Space Research group in the School of Engineering and Technology (UNSW Canberra), where he collaborates in different projects to develop, improve and maintain the existing optical and RF sensors, that will play a key role in the ground based tracking of the next UNSW Canberra CubeSat’s missions scheduled from 2016 to 2020.

His research is focused in the development of innovative technologies applied to astronomical and space surveillance ground based instrumentation, with the use embedded systems based on FPGA and ARM processors. His PhD, completed in 2015 in UNSW Canberra, is based in the investigation of an adaptive optics system for small aperture telescopes, where he developed a prototype currently attached to a 16" Meade LX200 Telescope sited in UNSW Canberra. Prior to joining UNSW he was working at CSIC, the government agency for scientific Research in Spain, and in Research and Development departments in different Spanish technological companies, with the role of electronic engineer in the fields of wireless communications, embedded processing based in FPGA, ultrasound technologies, radio communications and related.
