Biographical Note

Beverley Male was born in 1942 and graduated from the School of General Studies at the ANU in 1963. After writing a thesis on Pakistan’s relations with the Middle East, in 1970 she became the first female lecturer at the Royal Military College, Duntroon. Male designed and introduced courses on Middle East politics, and in 1980 was a founder of the Australasian Middle Eastern Studies Association. Her book Revolutionary Afghanistan was published in 1982
