Susan Thomas is the Special Collections Assistant Curator.  She has qualifications in history, philosophy, library and archival management, and has completed studies towards a diploma in the history of the book at the University of London. Susan brings more 25 years’ experience working with archival and rare book collections to her Special Collections role, including as Assistant Curator of Manuscripts at the National Library of Australia (2005-2015), and as Rare Books Curator at the University of Melbourne (2015-2018) where she developed expertise in object-based learning.  Amongst Susan’s many interests are included enhancing the discovery and use of collections, incorporating historic materials in teaching and learning, manuscript and book production, the book as an object and cultural agent, and intersections between the book and history.
